New Born Baby/Child health care Tips

Children are more prone to catching cold in winter. It doesn't matter if it's a newborn. They want maximum caution for that. We want to be careful about this from the time of birth. Traditional woolen clothes in winter can have adverse effects on baby's tender body. So the newborn's winter clothes should be as soft as he is.

Warning from the start

In winter, care should be taken to maintain the newborn's body temperature before birth. So the suggestion is that if the baby is born at full term (full 37 weeks) at home then the temperature of the room should be 26 to 28 degree centigrade. This also applies to the room where the newborn will stay after birth. You can ensure this temperature by turning on the room heater and keeping the doors and windows closed. Many keep a coal and bran fire in the corner of the house. In that case, be careful about fire. Immediately after birth, wipe the newborn's body with an old clean and soft cotton cloth. Body heat is lost very quickly when the body contains fetal fluid, which is called evaporative heat loss. Instead of placing the newborn in a separate bed or in a cool place, place the newborn near the mother's stomach or on the chest. Note that the mother's skin will stick to the newborn's skin. Then cover the newborn with a warm cloth and let him drink colostrum as quickly as possible. Glucose, protein, fat in it warms the baby's body. The body starts generating heat on its own because of the mild exercise of drinking milk.

What not to do

Some common practices soon after the baby is born increase the risk of the newborn getting sick in winter. Bathing a baby right after birth is a traditional scene in our country. Because a kind of white coating is seen on the body of the newborn immediately after birth. Many consider it dirty and wipe it off or take a bath to wash it off. Some also remove in liquid paraffin. But it is basically a protective shield for the newborn. It maintains the body temperature of the newborn, prevents any bacterial infection and protects the skin. Almost everyone shaves their head within a day. But sometimes it can lead to neonatal pneumonia. Hair maintains the temperature of the newborn's head. If the hair is too big and there is a problem with it, it can be trimmed with scissors. Many leave the newborn naked in the cold morning air to expose it to the sun. It is not advisable to take the child outside in cold winter wind, fog or cloudy conditions. If the sun rises and the wind is less, the newborn should be held in the sun before 12 noon. If the body is getting warm, one by one the whole body should be exposed to the sun, not more than half an hour. Afternoon sun exposure is harmful to newborns.

Another common practice is to put oil on the navel and keep it in the sun. Remember, it only creates a path of infection. The navel will be exposed but without touching anything. Larger dhola can be covered with cotton cloth. If you wear a diaper, it will be below the navel. A diaper should not be left on for more than 4 hours.

Massaging oil or lotion on the body of the newborn to strengthen the bones and warm the body is very common in our country. However, doctors say that for the first month, oil, soap, powder, lotion, cream, ink, kajal should not be touched to the child. After two to three months olive oil or mustard oil can be massaged. Many people use oils and lotions of foreign companies thinking of high quality. Check whether they are suitable for use in our country's climate. There is also a risk of allergy in these children.

Bath in lukewarm water

It is inappropriate to bathe the newborn in direct water for at least one month in winter. It is not advisable to bathe a premature or pre-mature baby for two months. After three days, you can wipe the body lightly with warm water. After a month or two months, one day in a week can be bathed in water. The water for bathing or wiping the body must first be boiled for 10 minutes. Then it should be warmed slightly. Disinfectant liquid should not be mixed with water. The water should not be heated by the sun. Baby shower must be in a closed room. As a result, the newborn will not suffer from wind chill.

Clothes will be soft

It is not advisable to directly dress the newborn in woolen clothes. Doctors say, the tiny hairs of wool can cause allergies. A woolen sweater can be pressed over cotton clothes, at least three widths of clothes should be worn by newborns. It can be kantha and blanket. Of course it will be child friendly.

Clothes suitable for newborns are available in the country. They are made of cotton, wool and other warm fabrics. Newborn clothing includes body suits and rompers. Through these, the work of clothes and pants will continue together. There are also baby sacks. It's like bark, but acts like a blanket. Newborns should wear clothes that open from the front. The chain is attached to the front of the baby sack. Besides, many are wearing half-sleeve or full-sleeve sweaters and t-shirts for newborns. In winter, newborns must wear mittens, socks and earmuffs. But remember, no cloth other than cotton should be used as a cover for the body of the newborn. If a cold still occurs after all this, use a rubber nasal aspirator to wipe the newborn's cold and arrange for immediate medical attention.
